Notes from our Newsletters
Congratulations to Eileen Gordon who will receive a UHA Life Membership award at the Annual Conference at Bankstown in October. Christmas party Our Christmas Lunch, provided by hospital management will be at Mona Vale Golf Club Wednesday 5th December at 12 Noon. Hospital Update From November the Mona Vale Hospital site will continue to be managed by NSW Health, a General Manager and Director of Nursing will be appointed and there will be 40 support staff including security, gardening, engineering and cleaning staff with support services relocated to a new building opposite the rehabilitation units. The Assessment & Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) and Beaches Rehabilitation Unit (BRU) together with the Hydrotherapy Pool will remain open. The site for the new 10 bed Palliative Care (PP) and 10 bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) building has been released and will be located on the current helipad area to take advantage of the coastal views. Work on this is expected to be starting soon. The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) will be established on November 1 in the present Emergency Department. It will be open 24/7 and will have access to medical imaging, pathology and physiotherapy. The temporary Ambulance Centre at MVH is now in operation. The Kiosk will continue serving remaining staff and visitors in its present location until such time that the hospital tower is wrapped for demolition, which is planned to commence around March 2019. By then the NEW KIOSK should be ready. The new Kiosk will be next to the Urgent Care facility and will have good visibility from the road. There will be support staff of around 40 staying at the hospital together with staff from the ARU, BRU and Community Health and patients boosted temporarily by the workforce of demolition workers. Hopefully with the new Kiosk being close to the road we will be able to increase our customer base with people using the coastal walkway, dog parkland area and visitors to the Urgent Care Unit. ************************************************************************************************************************************************ Vale Toni Francis The Auxiliary was saddened to hear our previous Welfare Officer, Toni Francis, had passed away last month after a long illness.
